Wisconsin State Capitol
Click on the title for more info!
Speaking of birthdays, Jer and I had a birthday date Friday and decided to hop up to Madison and tour the capitol and go to dinner. We missed the last guided tour of the day, so set out with the self tour guide to discover the most prominent building in our state. We all see it in the distance when we go to Madison, we walk around it when we are in the city, but how many of us have actually toured the building??? We thought it was way past time for us!
I love how the Universe works, cuz the first hall we choose to go down, brought is right to Kim Hixson's office door! Kim is our 43rd District Assembly Rep, and when I opened the door, there sat Jim Stoa, Kim's second hand guy! Jim and I worked together in the last presidential campaign and it had been awhile since we had seen each other. That was cool, but even better is Jim gave us a personal tour of the capitol!
It's pretty quiet at the capitol late Friday afternoon, and even more so as the Badgers had just lost, so most folks were nursing their bruises. But we had an awesome tour! The building is amazing! The history is fascinating! The art is humbling! And being able to actually step behind the Supreme Court Bench, stand at the Senate Speaker's Table and look down from the Assembly Platform, is inspiring. (Most of this is probably not on the regular tour!)
We met Senator Robson's staff and enjoyed her office. Jim was a terrific guide and we are grateful we missed the 'regular' tour, although I'm sure we would have learned more details and plan on taking it on another day.
If you have not taken the time to tour your state capitol, you should. For us, it helped to bring our pride in our state and our country back to center. We needed that. We all need that, especially now.
And it's free! So jump in your car and go to Madison. I know you will be glad you did! ~always, linda

Happy Birthday Pi
Click Here for a Better Story than Mine!
I have to admit, I've always been a bit of a math geek. Not that I can recite multiplication tables and I still struggle to remember how to calculate percentages, but I love the pattern, the mystery, the amazement of math. Math is the weave of the Universe, I believe it is the connection between what we humans call the spiritual and the physical worlds. Math is sexy!
So the birthday of Pi, 3/14... get it 3.14 ??? is a fun day for me. Not hard to remember for me, since it falls in the same week as the Girl Scouts Birthday (3/12), everyone who lives in our house's birthdays, and by the way Albert Einstein was born on 3/14... cool, huh! A bunch of fishes swimming in the sky of Pisces!
So be aware of wonder today... remember that the web is just a series of ones and zeros, that we all vibrate, and the veil between yesterday, today and tomorrow is just an illusion of the head you operate on while you're here!
Have a Super Pi Day! ~always, linda

Serenity
I recently stopped by to share DOTR with Audra Mandel O'Donnell the owner of 'Serenity - a Healing Experience' in Janesville. Like many of the people I meet, there are circles of other people I know swirling the both of us. Audra was one of these people.
I was introduced to Audra by Anne Soloman of Indulge Salon. Anne cuts my wild tresses and we have become friends. Audra's business is in the Indulge suites at 1360 Excalibur Drive. When Audra was thinking about coming under the umbrella of Indulge, Anne had asked me what I knew about Reiki healing. I was happy to share my experiences and enthusiasm for this ancient Japanese healing tradition. I had been introduced to Reiki by Arlene Rowden of Edgerton, who also a friend. Turns out both Audra and I had taken classes and workshops from Arlene... cool circles!
Audra is a very engaging, welcoming, soothing gal. She comes from a business background, but felt a calling to the healing arts. She offered an hour session of 'Serenity' and I was thrilled with the offer! I opted for both Reiki and Light Touch Acupressure. To read up on both and learn a lot more, go to Audra's website @ www.serenitystudio.net
First, you lie face up on a massage type table with your clothes on, comfortable and calm. Initially concentration on your breath is very helpful to the experience. As Audra began, I 'saw' (my eyes were closed) a wash of purple. Then as she worked from one side and top to toes I felt my energy shift and dance both to her and away. Was really entertaining to be conscious of my energy reacting to the directed Reiki energy through Audra. She activated my energy centers through light touch, which further relaxed me. The hour flew by and at the end, I was relaxed, felt centered and lifted.
These methods of calming and centering energy are proven and real. Audra has an awesome way to show you how, with a little ping pong ball. It has two contacts on it and when you touch both with your fingers, the ball lights up. When she did it, and then took one of her fingers off, and invited me to touch the contact, the ball lit up as well. A simple way to prove the energetic connection of us to every thing and one around us!
I loved meeting Audra and am so grateful for her kindness, skills and gifts. Am looking forward to seeing her often and I encourage you to be aware of the wonder all around you. Give yourself the gift of peace. Visit Audra, you'll love it! love, linda
